In literacy, children will be able to:
• Identify upper case letters A to Z
• Identify letter sounds and vocabulary words: Aa to Zz
• Sight read one word per letter.
In numeracy, children will be able to:
• Identify opposites: big – small, stop – go, happy – sad, up – down, slow – fast, hot – cold, day – night and tall – short
• Identify shapes: circle, square, star, triangle, diamond, oval and semi-circle
• Identify colours: red, yellow, blue, black, white, orange, green and purple
• Rote count from 1 to 20
• Sight read numbers 1 to 20
• Count objects up to 10
• Sight read number words – one to ten
• Count backward 10 to 1 using a number line
• Understand quantities using the vocabulary ‘more’ and ‘less’
• Add or subtract 1 object from a number of objects
